Drifters' Alliance Book 2 eBook Elle Casey
I did enjoy this book. I'd like to see what happens in the series. However, I feel like we are getting ripped off by Elle. These books are 1/3 as long as they should be, for this price. Once you read the next one, that ends abruptly at the point where she's reached her word count limit, you find out this isn't a three-book series at all, and that she could be ripping us off for many books to come. I'd like to find out what happens to the crew, but it looks like I won't be able to afford to.Product details

Drifters' Alliance Book 2 eBook Elle Casey Reviews
This second installment of the series does not disappoint, Casey builds a solid story line and continues to grow and develop the main characters. Captain Cass is a kick ass, ask questions later female lead. As this story evolves we are shown a more vulnerable side to Cass as she takes up her leadership role as Captain, putting her crew first, a crew she hopes to become her family.
I was leery of reading this book as it was advertised as a YA read. But I felt that the author did a good job with the main character, Cass. She seemed nineteen years old-not twelve. And you could see her maturing throughout the book as different events happened on board ship. And Cass reacted like a young woman-not like someone who has seen it all. I really liked her spiritedness. I also liked how the author took the time to also flesh out the other characters. I felt that I was flying with the Anarchy team. Loved the different plot twists to really want one to keep reading.
I just have one question, can I join the crew of the DS Anarchy? Elle Casey is taking me back to my first love and that was Sci Fy . I haven't really read Sci Fy for some time but I find after reading books 1 & 2 of Drifters' Alliance I want more. This second installment of the series does not disappoint, Casey does what she does best by building a solid storyline as well as continuing to grow and nurture the main characters. Captain Cass is, as we all know, a serious badass, she is a kick ass, ask questions later kinda girl, my favorite type of female lead, but as this story evolves we are presented with the more vulnerable side to Cass as she takes up her leadership role as Captain putting her crew first, honestly they are not just her crew but what she hopes to become her family.
Secrets are revealed, the past comes back to haunt Cass, a crew comes together, and alliances are forged. I can't wait to see what is in store for Cass and the crew of the DS Anarchy next. Book 3 is set to release early November.
I really enjoyed Book 1, which I got for free, and then I bought Book 2. Somehow, even though Book 1 was pretty darn short, I thought that Book 2 would be longer, and more substantial. Well, I thought wrong and was disappointed. It's barely longer than a short story. (Note I do not like short stories.) Maybe if I put 4 of these Drifter's Alliance stories together, I might feel like I was getting some character and plot development. I'm done with this series, but if you're looking for a "one-night read" this book and Book 1 are for you.
I am not sure if the intended audience for this book is adult, nor am I clear on whether the author lacks maturity. Unfortunately the writing does. It is quite difficult to identify with the characters, which are not well developed. There are hints galore about their backgrounds, but the characters do not come across as realistic people. Even the heroine and her conflict with her father are muddled; teenage angst and rebellion, mundane and poorly articulated. The plot plods along, unlikely occurences abound, but there is no sense of "wow, I wonder what happens next". I enjoy science fiction that at least could be real. From the ship to the personal conflicts ...just no.
I am really enjoying this series! It's a quick read with your stereotypical kick-ass-tough-with-a-soft-side female protagonist but she's an enjoyable and relate-able character. The rest of the cast has distinctive personalities without needing elaborate backgrounds. The story is a spacer's adventure - if you like Firefly it's worth a read, Cass reminds me a bit of Mal, and the ship and environment have a similar feel to the Firefly universe without being too much alike.
The writing is simple but not too much so, the dialogue between characters is clear and spoken like actual people speak, not imbued with a bunch of spacer's jargon or technical terms, more concise and to the point, with a bunch of sass. It makes the characters more realistic and each definitively has their own voice.
I am pretty critical of my reading materials, especially the ones I've found so far that have a similar set-up where the first book is free and the rest are a few dollars... they have not fared well for me! This one has stood out from the rest and I don't have any complaints
RIP OFF!!! While I love Elle Casey and her writing story... this one is just after your money folks. Don't get me wrong, the story had great potential and I would love to see what happens with the characters, but Casey is not selling a true book. This is a case of purchasing a few chapters at time. Reminiscent of the by gone era when Mark Twain or Charles Dickens would write their books in installments and one needed to get the paper regularly to read the entire drama. Only in this case, Casey deludes the reader into thinking they are getting a real book. BEGINNING MIDDLE, and END. NOPE. Not with this. You are paying for an independent authors chapters, NOT THE BOOK. One of which abruptly ends with no rhime or reason.... because she needs you to buy the nest book. I am disturbed by Caseys obvious money grubbing ways that I am hesitent to buy another bood. (Keeping in mind I've bought over 15 books by the author.)
Check out the War series, the Apocalypses serie, the Bourbon Boys if thats your thing (It's not mine). But this is just a cash cow for the author and is NOT a true book by any strech of the imagination... Understand in advance you will need to buy them all and even then you wont have a conclusion. Until if and when the author decides to write more about this series. Which as of now has been a last priority for her.
